Japan considered, Tuesday, that Iran’s resumption of uranium enrichment to a purity of 20% constitutes a violation of the nuclear agreement.
Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Katsunobu Kato said that his country is deeply concerned about Iran’s recent announcement to resume uranium enrichment with a purity of 20%.
“The (Japanese) government has serious concerns about this step, which is a breach of the nuclear deal,” Kato told reporters.
An Iranian government spokesman Ali Rabiei announced that the 20% uranium enrichment process had started on Monday at the Fordo enrichment complex.
Last month, the Iranian parliament approved a law requiring the IAEA to raise uranium enrichment levels.
The Iranian move to raise uranium enrichment by 20% sparked widespread international outrage and promised to impose new sanctions on the regime.
