Tanzania: MP expelled from parliament for wearing tight pants (video)
A Tanzanian MP was expelled from parliament for wearing pants deemed tight and attractive by her colleagues.
Condenser Sichwale, MP for Momba, was expelled by Speaker of Parliament Job Ndugai on Tuesday, June 1, after another MP complained about her outfit.
According to Global Publishers, Nyang’wale MP Hussein Amar denounced his dress right after a question-and-answer session.
In a video widely shared on social media, Amar can be heard criticizing his colleague’s outfit, arguing that parliament is the mirror of society and must be a good example.
“Parliament is the mirror of society and Tanzania, and some of our sisters wear strange clothes and are members of parliament. What do they show to the community? Amar said amid cheers from other MPs.
President Ndugai asked him to name the person he was referring to, which he did by giving indications and the color of his outfit, without ever mentioning his name.
Mr. Ndugai politely asked MP Condester Sichwale to leave and dress appropriately to be allowed to return to Parliament.
