The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said that about 5,800 cases of the Covid-19 virus were recorded in fully vaccinated people, some of whom died, and others had severe symptoms.
The centers stated, in e-mail statements reported by CNN, that 74 people had died. Despite receiving the vaccine, while 396 of them needed medical attention inside the hospital.
According to CDC, the injuries were not limited to an age group per se but included people of all ages eligible to receive the vaccine.
But it indicated that about 40 percent of the infections occurred in people aged 60 years or over, and most of the infected (65 percent) were female. In comparison, the percentage of people who contracted the disease without showing symptoms reached 29 percent.
The centers did not specify the vaccine that the infected people got. Simultaneously, CNN confirmed that “the cases of vaccine penetration constitute a small percentage of people who have received the full vaccination,” which is about 77 million in the United States.
The network added that this is the first indication from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of vaccines’ effectiveness on the ground and an indication that vaccines do not fully protect against severe diseases and the risk of death.
From the first dose on December 14 until now, the United States has become the most vaccinated country in the world, according to figures compiled by Johns Hopkins University.
The pace of vaccination nationwide has accelerated to an average of more than three million doses per day.
And the US President, Joe Biden, announced last week that Corona vaccines would be available to 90 percent of adults in the United States by April 19.
The United States approved three vaccines for emergency use, Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson, before the latter was frozen after 6 people were recorded with blood clots. In contrast, one person and another died in a critical condition after receiving the vaccine.
