West Brom stuns Chelsea in London

West Brom turned from two goals behind at Chelsea into a landslide victory, with five goals for two, after the Premier League football matches resumed on Saturday.

West Bromwich Albion, threatened with relegation, strengthened its hopes of remaining in the Premiership, with this stunned victory over ten Chelsea players, to make German Thomas Tuchil his first loss as coach of the London club.

The penultimate West Bromwich is 7 points from the safety zone, while Chelsea remain fourth, but may fall behind at the end of the round behind West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur, according to Reuters.

Chelsea had been looking to get out of the clean sheet for the eighth game in a row in all competitions, but Thiago Silva was sent off due to receiving a second warning, which destroyed his hopes and suffered a heavy defeat by West Brom.

Tuchel told the BBC, after Chelsea suffered the heaviest defeat at home in about 10 years, “There is no reason to receive 5 goals when we have such capabilities,” adding, “We could not adapt to the situation and this is surprising.” Because we were progressing in the score. Usually we felt confident enough to defend, but we were suffering and we continued to make big mistakes. We were punished severely and it is difficult to understand, “according to Reuters.

And Chelsea advanced half an hour before the start when Christian Pulisic followed Marcus Alonso’s free kick, which was kicked off the post, to score the American winger his first goal under the leadership of German coach Tuchel.

Just two minutes later, the referee dismissed Chelsea defender Thiago Silva after receiving a second warning following a violent intervention.

The visitors took advantage of the numerical shortage in the ranks of the owners of the land well to score his player Mateus Pereira twice in a short time before the end of the first half.

West Brom added twice from two rebounds within 5 minutes in the second half by Callum Robinson with a direct shot following a cross from Darnell Verlong and Baye Diane after a pass from Pereira.

Chelsea scored 4-2 after Timo Werner prepared the ball for substitute teammate Mason Mount.

West Brom then added his fifth goal in stoppage time through Robinson, who found the space to drop the ball from over the head of goalkeeper Edward Mendy.

West Brom coach Sam Allardyce said, “People will always look at the fact that the opponent is playing with 10 men, but I think we started the game very well and created some chances. I think Thiago Silva was lucky to stay on the field after the first mistake.”

“All our goals came in great shape, and it is not just about the final touch but about building the attack as well. It is unfortunate that we did not show this level in some other matches, but this also gives us some hope.”
