An unprecedented event in the streets of Cairo today, with the departure of the royal mummies procession from the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square to the National Museum of Civilization in Fustat, in a move described by the Spanish newspaper “El Pais” as a smart initiative to revitalize tourist attractions amid the Corona pandemic crisis that has hit the tourism industry around the world…

The newspaper added that the procession of royal mummies (the golden procession) turned into a wonderful show covering the streets of Cairo with joy, as if the kings of the Pharaohs had returned to life to walk under the warm sun of Egypt, in a scene that astonishes and dazzles the world.

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi participated in the reception of the royal mummies’ parade after arriving at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat.

Twenty-two Pharaonic royal mummies of 18 kings and 4 queens from the seventeenth to twentieth dynasties were transported in the majestic golden procession on the rocks of special chariots decorated with pharaonic inscriptions symbols.

Tahrir Square was decorated with lights, an obelisk, and rams to prepare the royal mummies to start moving in a majestic procession. Aerial footage showed the Egyptians’ creativity in developing Tahrir Square to fit the value of the royal motorcade.

It is noteworthy that the National Port Authority issued a set of commemorative postage stamps using QR Code technology, which is applied for the first time with Egyptian postage stamps to commemorate royal mummies’ trans great interest at the local and international levels.

The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities launched a promotional film with several Egyptian artists’ participation, including the able artist Hussein Fahmy, the artist Aser Yassin, and the artist Amina Khalil, which includes exclusive content on the history of the 22 royal mummies. It launched electronic promotional campaigns in 12 Arab, European, Asian, and American markets.

Dr. Khaled Al-Anani, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, said that the idea of ​​transferring pharaonic royal mummies began in 2017 when the National Museum of Civilization was prepared, stressing that he was influenced by the idea of ​​transporting mummies in the Paris Museum with a royal reception by receiving them with gunshots and red carpets.
