On Friday, US President Joe Biden issued a statement regarding the attempted storming of Congress, and the killing of a Capitol police officer, announcing that flags were flown at half-mast over the White House.
Biden said in a statement, “I was saddened to learn of the violent attack on a security post at the Capitol … which killed Officer William Evans … and left another officer wounded … We send our heartfelt condolences to the family of Officer Evans, and everyone is grieving for his loss.”
The US President ordered the White House flags to be flown in half, to mourn the killing of a Capitol Police officer, during an accident carried out by a young man with his car.
Biden expressed the gratitude of the American people for what the Capitol Police are doing, and for the immediate and decisive response to the National Guard and other law enforcement forces that dealt with the incident.
Biden confirmed that he had received a continuous press briefing from the internal security advisors about the attack, explaining that he would continue to follow up the matter while the investigation continues.
And the Congressional police announced the death of one of its members, after a driver rushed his car to cross the security barrier of the Capitol Building, killing one policeman and wounding another.
The suspect got out of his car after running into the officers, carrying a knife, according to the police, who shot and killed him.
