Josep Maria Bartomeu, former president of Barça, was arrested by the Mossos as part of the “BarçaGate” investigation.
According to Sport, Bartomeu and four others were arrested so far after an inspection conducted Monday morning in the club’s offices. The judge found signs of unfair management in contracting with the company, providing digital espionage services to the club’s players and entourage.
During the preliminary proceedings, the Mossos d’Esquadra found signs of possible unfair administration and corruption between individuals.
This judicial investigation, which starts from a complaint by the Barça opinion group “Dignitas Blaugrana,” is still subject to summary secrecy, which has been extended six times by the investigating court n ° 13 in Barcelona. The last expansion ends on March 10.
As a reminder, President Josep Bartomeu is accused of having used a communication agency to discredit his opponents, including some club players such as Gérard Piqué and Lionel Messi, and having embezzled funds. The operation is believed to have cost the club € 1million and has not been reported to internal legal and financial advice.
