Jeff Bezos reclaimed his title as the richest man globally, ending Elon Musk’s reign, which lasted for about six weeks.
Elon Musk lost around $ 4.5 billion on Tuesday after Tesla’s shares fell 2.4% (TSLA), which was enough to push him to second place in Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index. Bezos’ net worth also declined, but his loss was not as extreme, as he only lost around $ 372 million. This was enough for him to recover his title, which he has held for three years.
The Bloomberg Index currently shows Bezos is now worth $ 191 billion, compared to Musk’s $ 190 billion.
Musk’s skyrocketing to number one came in early January when Tesla’s shares soared.
Mr. Bezos had a relatively robust 2020. The Amazon CEO’s stake in the company grew by $ 75 billion in 2020, to $ 173.3 billion, given the massive sales increase due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
As for Bill Gates, he remains the third richest person in the world with 137 billion dollars.
