The mysterious silver metal structure appeared in Africa after it appeared on the continents of Europe and North America.
The latest in a series of silver metal structures that sparked sci-fi enthusiasts around the world faced a tragic fate in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Wednesday, when it was torched in a square in the capital.
The structure, which is more than 3 meters high, appeared in the Pandal district of the capital, Kinshasa, on Sunday morning. On Wednesday morning, a crowd of curious bystanders stopped in the Pandal neighborhood to take selfies and talk about the structure’s potential origins.
Videos posted on social media later showed residents destroying the structure with sticks and setting it on fire.
Similar structures were spotted in the Utah desert in the United States in November, then in Romania and Turkey, and were compared to the metal structure that appeared in Stanley Kubrick’s “2001: A Space Odyssey”.
In the film, the space structure is a symbol that appears to play a role in the evolution of humanity.
