Prayut Chan-ocha, Prime Minister of Thailand who came to power in a military coup years ago, said he had received a letter from the new junta leader in Myanmar asking for his help in achieving democracy.

Prayut said, “We support the democratic process in Myanmar, but what is important today is to maintain good relations due to the impact on the people, economy, and cross-border trade, especially at present.”

“Thailand supports the democratic process. The rest is up to him on how to proceed,” he added.
