World number two Simona Halep escaped an early defeat at the Australian Open tennis tournament, on Wednesday.
She beat Australian Ayla Tomljanovic 4-6, 6-4, 7-5, in a match full of errors, to qualify for the third round with difficulty.
Halep, a two-time winner in the four major tournaments, entered the meeting, beating her 27-year-old Australian competitor, ranked 72 in the world, 3-0, but struggled to pass the daring Tomljanovic in Melbourne.
A difficult confrontation for Anas Jaber
Naomi Osaka made steady steps into the third round of the tournament, after showing off her strength against Caroline Garcia to win 6-2 6-3.
US Open champion Osaka will play Tunisian Anas Jaber in the next round.
And Jaber, ranked 30 in the world, qualified for the third round after defeating Slovakian Anna Karolina Schmidlova 6-3 6-2.
And it will be difficult for Jaber to face Osaka, especially as the Japanese are ranked third in the world.
Novak Djokovic’s reputation as the indomitable player at the Australian Open was threatened by Francis Tiafu after narrowly winning 6-3 6-7 7-6 6-3 to advance to the third round.
Djokovic, the winner of the last two titles in Australia, is not usually subjected to difficult tests in the early rounds in the major tournaments, but he fought a difficult task against American Tiafu, who revived the memories of qualifying for the quarter-finals in 2019.
Once again, the famous American player Serena Williams wore the dance costume during her confrontation with Nina Stojanovic, which she won 6-3 6-0, so that the veteran Serena easily advanced to the third round.

Serena looked happy with the costume worn in honor of Olympic athletics champion Florence Griffith Joyner, which features contouring, one leg covered, and cheerful colors.
“If you look closely at the robe, you will find that it is comfortable and includes holes and is made of a very light material,” she laughs.
She added, “This is one of the best clothing designs I have ever worn and definitely my top 3.”
