According to a senior administration official, US President Joe Biden is scheduled to deliver a speech on Monday presenting his foreign policy plans, the first speech of its kind since his inauguration, according to NBC News reports.
White House Press Secretary Jane Sackey said on Friday that Biden would meet US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken on Monday.
NBC reported that Biden is expected to outline a foreign policy aimed at “restoring America’s standing in the world” during a speech at the State Department on Monday.
A senior administration official also said that Biden is expected to sign several executive actions related to his “efforts to show a new US approach on the world stage,” including forming a task force to reunite immigrant families.
Earlier this week, Biden had a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the talks that led to the two leaders agreeing to extend the New START treaty were practical and candid. But Peskov said it was too early to talk about any reset in US-Russian relations.
