The White House reveals the first official Biden calls
White House spokeswoman Jane Saki announced, Wednesday evening, that the first contact between the new US President Joe Biden and a foreign official will be with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
In the first press briefing from the White House, Saki confirmed that President Biden had appointed a general coordinator to combat Corona, indicating that he plans to make Iran’s negotiations part of his early consultations with allies.
“Follow-up diplomacy will lead to restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program,” she added.
Biden said if Tehran resumed strict compliance with the 2015 deal, Washington would do so as well.
The presidency passed to Biden, 78, who became the oldest American president in history, during a mini-ceremony in Washington that did not witness the usual amount of festive atmosphere due to the pandemic and security concerns after the attack by supporters of former President Donald Trump on the Capitol building in 6th of January.
