Moderna’s first vaccines have arrived in Belgium


Moderna’s first vaccines have been delivered to Belgium, the Federal Agency for Medicines and Health Products (FAMHP) confirmed the Belga agency on Monday. We do not yet know the exact number of doses or the center’s location where they are stored.

Last Wednesday, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the European Commission gave the green light for Moderna’s vaccine. Besides Pfizer / BioNTech, it is the second vaccine used in Europe against the coronavirus.

2 million doses

Europe has ordered 160 million doses from the American manufacturer, distributed among the 27 Member States. Belgium has ordered 2 million doses, much less than the number of vaccines ordered from Pfizer / BioNTech.

The first deliveries of Moderna’s vaccine to the EU started today / Monday. Besides Belgium, the Netherlands, France, and Germany also received their first doses.
