CNN news confirmed that “a group of Republican lawmakers may try to challenge the results of the US presidential elections, during the process of approval in Congress on January 6.”
The channel quoted two Republican congressional representatives as saying that they expect about 140 of their fellow party members in the House of Representatives and several senators to make such an attempt.
On January 6, during a joint meeting of both houses of Congress, the results of the voting in the electorate will be approved, and according to current rules, lawmakers can oppose approval of the results of the vote in the electorate of a specific state.
The US Senate voted Friday by a majority, allowing Trump to bypass Trump’s “veto” against the Defense Ministry budget.
The US Senate has moved to override Trump’s veto against a $740 billion defense policy bill in a rare procedural vote on New Year’s Day.
