Greece intercepts 7 Turkish fighters flying illegally over the Aegean Sea


According to media outlets, Greece has intercepted 7 Turkish military aircraft, which flew illegally over the Aegean Sea.

The General Staff of the Greek National Defense stated that the Air Force intercepted 4 Turkish “F-16” fighters and 3 military transport aircraft “CN-235”, according to the Greek newspaper “Proutema.”

The newspaper said that the Greek Air Force identified the Turkish aircraft and intercepted them by international rules and established practices.

Reports indicated that the Turkish Air Force carried out 45 violations of Greek airspace and 6 violations that impeded air navigation in the Athens flight information area.

Turkey continues to provoke the Greek authorities through illegal drilling for oil off the Mediterranean coast and attempts to establish a military base off the Greek island of Crete.
