Hamsa’s hand on the first Israeli plane that landed in Morocco … What does it mean?

The Israeli plane which carried an American-Israeli delegation to Morocco on Tuesday was decorated with the “Hamsa” hand symbol, inspired by Moroccan folklore.

On Tuesday, the Israeli plane, which includes the joint Israeli-American delegation, landed at the airport in the Moroccan capital, Rabat, on the first direct commercial flight between Tel Aviv and Rabat.

The delegation includes the US President’s senior adviser, Jared Kushner, and the US envoy to the Middle East, Avi Berkovits, besides Israel’s national security advisor, Meir Ben Shabat.

And printed on the Israeli plane the hand symbol “Hamsa“, along with the words “peace” in Hebrew and English, and the flags of Morocco, Israel, and the United States.

The five-handed symbol is widespread in many countries and is often found hanging on walls and doors, or adorned by women like jewelry and jewelry made of gold or silver.

The “Hand of hamsa” refers to the number of the five fingers of the hand, and in the cultural heritage symbolizes an ancient folk practice aimed at bringing good luck and protection from human harm, represented by envy.

In popular Jewish culture, “hamsa” or “hamsha” has the same connotation, as it also aims to protect against the “evil eye.”

It is noteworthy that the Israeli flight that landed in Rabat on Tuesday evening also bore the number “555”.

And Morocco announced the resumption of Moroccan-Israeli relations, earlier this December.

It is expected that the signing of several agreements will follow the resumption of relations between the two countries, according to the program of the visit to Rabat.

According to the Moroccan Royal Court, this appeal includes facilitating direct flights between the two countries and developing relations in the economic and technological fields.
