Today, Sunday, the World Health Organization (WHO) stated the emergence of a new Coronavirus strain in London and parts of England.
The World Health Organization said: “We are in close contact with officials in the United Kingdom about the new variant of the Coronavirus.”
She added, “They will continue to share information and the results of their ongoing analyzes and studies. We will update member states and the public as we learn more about the characteristics of this virus variant and any effects.”
And she continued: “In the meantime, we continue to advise people to take all preventive measures to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus and to comply with the guidelines of the national authorities.”
And British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the imposition of a new level of restrictions in London and the southeast of England, starting on Sunday, to confront a major outbreak of the Coronavirus.
Johnson confirmed that these areas in London and England are entering the fourth level of general lockdown, after the emergence of a new, faster-spreading strain of Coronavirus.
Under the new decision, residents in the designated areas must stay home and not go out unless necessary.
Earlier, Chris Whitty, a chief medical officer in England, said that the new Corona strain in parts of the United Kingdom is spreading more quickly. Work is being done to determine whether it has an impact on the increase in death rates.
