On Friday, prosecutors said US rapper Lil Wayne pleaded guilty in federal court to charges of illegal possession of a firearm, adding that he faces up to ten years in prison.
Last December, authorities found a gold-plated pistol in the luggage of Wayne, 38, onboard a private plane that landed at an airport near Miami.
Wayne was convicted of committing a criminal offense, which prevented him from possessing a weapon or ammunition, according to “Reuters”.
In a written statement, prosecutors from the US Attorney’s Office for the South Florida area said that police had received a report from an unknown source that Wayne was carrying a firearm.
Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter, is due to be sentenced on January 28.
