Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman highlighted the importance of his team’s improvement in defense, ahead of the Levante match scheduled for Sunday in the 13th round of La Liga, at the Camp Nou.
During the match’s introductory press conference, Koeman said: “I have reviewed the goals that entered our goal, 3 of them only through the opponent’s playing style … but the rest are either individual faults, penalty kicks, or corner kicks. We must improve defensively.”
He added, “Bouygues? He performed well against Juventus and in other matches … tomorrow we will see what happens.”
He continued: “We are the team that creates the most opportunities, but we score a few goals, so we must improve and be more powerful because we sometimes lack focus.”
He continued: “I am not happy with our tour in La Liga, but until the elections, we will try to achieve the maximum benefit. Yes, I said before that we have 7 matches remaining until the end of the year, of which 5 are at our stadium. But this does not make it easy for us.”
Regarding the rumors about the players requesting a change in the way of playing, he said: “It is not true that the players asked for this matter; it is false news… I talk to them every day. They did not tell me anything about my statements in the press conferences or about the game plan.”
And he added, “I feel the support of the players and the comfort of working with them, if there is no trust between us, the work will not go well … but I am only concerned about our path in La Liga, and there is enough time to compensate … we will show our character in the upcoming matches.”
On the party’s identity who wishes to win in the Madrid derby, scheduled for today, Saturday, Koeman replied: “Our responsibility is to win tomorrow’s match … Atletico, the league leaders, and certainly we are advised to lose … But I repeat: I want to focus on our match only.”
