A Spanish press report revealed that Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman has settled on a new defender to support the team during the upcoming winter transfer window.
The Catalan newspaper “Sport” reported that Koeman settled on the Argentine Lysandro Martinez, defender of the Dutch Ajax Amsterdam team, to support the Catalan team’s backline next January.
Coman settles for a player to sign in the Mercato Winter.
Barcelona suffers from a clear deficiency on the defensive side, in light of the continuous injuries of French defender Samuel Umtiti and Gerard Pique’s long injury.
The newspaper confirmed that the capabilities of Lysandro Martinez, 22, are commensurate with what Barcelona is looking for, as he has good experience in the Champions League, in addition to his ability to play as a central defender and left-back.
She indicated that Koeman knows Lysandro’s abilities well, by his previous work as a coach of the Netherlands national team and familiar with all Dutch league players.
Coman has suggested Lisandro’s name, in case Manchester City defender Eric Garcia fails to settle in January.
The newspaper added that Barcelona has already communicated with Ajax officials and offered the idea of joining the player on loan for the end of the season with the option to buy, given the current difficult economic conditions for the Catalan team.
