Arsenal’s legendary coach, French Arsene Wenger, warned Paris Saint-Germain about the consequences of contracting Barcelona’s star, Lionel Messi.
Messi’s future with Barcelona has remained unknown since he was asked to leave the team during the last summer transfer period, and the name of the 33-year-old is linked to a move to one of the most prominent European clubs after the end of his contract with Barca in June, including Paris Saint-Germain.
Speculation about the possibility of joining the French champions escalated last week, after his former Barcelona teammate, the current star of Paris Saint-Germain, Brazilian Neymar, said that what he wants most is to play with Messi again.
Wenger responded to that speculation, saying that the Paris Saint-Germain administration had upset the balance of its star-studded team, by hiring Messi.
The veteran coach, who supervised Arsenal for 22 years (1996/2018), added in remarks carried by the British newspaper “The Sun”: “Lionel Messi is one of the best players in the world. Those who will receive the torch after Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi (retire) are already in. Paris Saint-Germain, “referring to Neymar and French superstar Kylian Mbappe.
“After that, it is a matter of balance in the club, technical balance, financial balance. Can you maintain balance in PSG by bringing in players like Messi? I’m not sure,” Wenger concluded.
