The United Nations calls for restraint after the assassination of an Iranian nuclear scientist

A United Nations spokesman said that Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called for restraint and avoided any actions that could escalate tension in the region after the assassination of an Iranian nuclear scientist long suspected by the West mastermind of an Iranian nuclear weapons program.
Spokesman Farhan Haq said, “We learned of the reports that talk about the assassination of an Iranian nuclear scientist near Tehran today. We urge restraint and the need to avoid any actions that could lead to an escalation of tension in the region.”
