Football fans around the world have been waiting for Lionel Messi’s farewell message to his compatriot Diego Armando Maradona, who left our world today, Wednesday, at 60.
Argentine newspapers reported Maradona suffered a heart attack and died two weeks after leaving the hospital, where he underwent surgery for a stroke.
Messi wrote through his official accounts on social media, words of farewell, addressing Maradona, where he said: “A very sad day for all the people of Argentina and football, Diego did not leave us, he showed.”
He continued: “He took with him all the beautiful moments that we had together, and I always wanted to benefit from him.”
He concluded: “I send my condolences to all his family and friends, rest in peace.”
And a strong relationship between Messi and Maradona, where the 32-year-old is his successor on the soccer field, and they worked together in the Argentina national team when Diego took over the tango coaching job.
Maradona is among the most famous football legends throughout its long history, as Maradona contributed to attracting millions to follow football, thanks to his superior skills, and he also contributed to the Argentina national team’s crowning of the World Cup in 1986.
Maradona wore Barcelona and Napoli jerseys on his European trip, while he excelled in his career with Boca Juniors as he started playing football.
