Brazilian UFC legend Anderson Silva was laid off before UFC despite having one fight remaining in his contract.
UFC President Dana White revealed before Silva lost in the fourth round by knockout to Uriah Hall last month that it would be the Brazilian’s final.
Anderson Silva’s dismissal by UFC comes despite one fight still going on in his contract
The 45-year-old fighter – who has won only once in his last nine fights – is now free to pursue his MMA career elsewhere.
But White is said to be skeptical about whether Silva will choose to fight.
After Hall defeated Silva, White admitted it was a mistake to allow the middleweight icon to fight again.
He called on the sports committees to prevent the UFC legend from continuing his career.
White said: He is a mature man who can do whatever he wants. “I love and respect the man, and I only hope his family talks about him.”
“I made a big mistake,” he added. I should not have let him fight this battle … But out of respect for him – he is a legend of this sport, a legend of the UFC – I did something I disagreed with. ”
He continued: “I knew I was right and proved tonight that I was right, and Anderson Silva should not fight again.”
