According to campaign spokesman Stephen Lawson, Loeffler tested positive for the coronavirus on Friday, but a subsequent test came back as inconclusive on Saturday evening.
Loeffler was maskless with Vice President Mike Pence and Senator David Perdue during campaign events most of the day on Friday. The trio boarded an airport bus at two campaign events for the second round of the Georgia Senate election in January.
“Senator Loeffler had two COVID tests on Friday morning. Her rapid test results were negative, and she was allowed to attend Friday’s events. She was informed later that evening after Friday’s public events that her PCR test had returned positive, but she was retested. Saturday morning, after speaking with medical officials and these results came back inconclusive on Saturday night, ”Lawson said.
“She has no symptoms and will continue to follow CDC guidelines in quarantining until the retest is successful and an update is provided at that time,” Lawson said.
The campaign official added that Loeffler is notifying those with whom she has had direct contact pending further testing.
“Senator Loeffler is on my mind. I pray that her test results are negative and that she will soon be back on the election campaign. Blessings, ”said Reverend Raphael Warnock, his Democratic opponent in the next second round.
