US President Donald Trump wrote a tweet on Sunday, in which he apparently acknowledged for the first time the victory of his rival, Joe Biden, in the November 3 presidential election, but repeated his false claims of fraud in the election result.
“He won because the election was rigged,” Trump said.
The political deadlock delaying the transition to the handover of leadership to the administration of US President-elect Joe Biden continued on Sunday, after a day in which tens of thousands of supporters of President Donald Trump poured into the streets of the US capital to echo his false claims of tampering with the election result.
Democrat Biden, the former vice president, spent days with advisers studying cabinet appointments, taking congratulatory calls from world leaders, and mapping out the policies he would pursue after he was sworn in on January 20.
He is expected to continue his meetings with his advisers on Sunday.
