Actress Gina Davis was at her peak of fame when she vanished from our screens. The star won critical acclaim and world fame after starring in two classic films, Thelma and Louise, and Tim Burton Beetlejuice. Few people know this, but while watching TV with her family, Davis noticed that the proportion of male and female characters was strongly skewed in favor of males.

So, the star sponsored the biggest research project on gender in children’s entertainment.

The project eventually ended and stated that there were, on average, 3 males for every 1 female. Since then, Davis has increasingly turned her activism to support organizations to fix this imbalance. This work seems to have got her so busy that she hasn’t yet made her return to the silver screen.

Cameron Diaz

After topping the screens, especially during her appearances with Jim Carrey in the movie The Mask, Cameron Diaz cemented herself as one of the leading stars in Hollywood during the 1990s and 2000s.

However, she hasn’t appeared in a movie since 2014. When asked, she explains that she has been working full time for nearly two decades in the film industry, and finds that she no longer feels satisfied. Although she didn’t mention that she has officially quit the movie industry, she said that she needs to take some time for herself to charge up some energy.
