After two weeks of racing, the Tour of Spain cycling is still free from coronavirus infections. The fourth round of 681 tests, which took place on Monday’s second day of rest in this 75th Vuelta, did not reveal a single positive test.
All participating riders and other team members were also tested earlier upon arrival in Spain, just before the first stage in Irún on October 20 and the first day of rest on October 26.
On Monday, 528 tests within the teams and 153 among the organization members, considered level 2 of the racing bubble, underwent a PCR test for Covid-19.
On Tuesday, the Tour of Spain is in its 13th stage, a 33.7 km individual time trial between Muros and Mirador de Ézaro. Ecuadorian Richard Carapaz has a 10-second lead in the overall standings over Slovenian Primoz Roglic.
The Tour of Spain ends in Madrid on Sunday.
