Klopp fears an extension of his domestic slots to the European Championship (Reuters)
Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp stressed the difficulty of facing the Italian team, Atlanta, in the European Champions League, which will be held tomorrow evening, Tuesday, at Bergamo stadium, indicating that it will be the biggest challenge Reds so far this season.
“Atalanta have excellent, excellent players who are well organized and play in a 100% convincing manner … and they use their individual skills in unreasonable smart ways,” Klopp said at a press conference for the match today.
The German coach added, “This is our biggest challenge in the Champions League so far. Atlanta is a difficult opponent, similar to Leeds United, to some extent, and it will be a difficult meeting.”
Klopp explained that it is still early in the season, and the team’s position in the various competitions should not be given much thought.
The coach indicated that Cameroonian defender Joel Matip and Guinean midfielder Nabi Keita participated in the training yesterday. Still, they need the medical staff’s approval regarding their ability to participate, stressing that his team has a sufficient number of other players in the defensive midfield, which reduces his problem in this regard.
Liverpool tops Group D in the Champions League with 6 points, followed by Atlanta with 4 points, and Ajax of the Netherlands with one point.
