Probably very calm, the 2020 summer transfer window could look like the calm before the 2021 storm for Real Madrid.
Coming out of confinement, Florentino Pérez was very clear on Real Madrid’s intentions in the transfer window. Newly champion of Spain, the club merengue will not carry out big operations this summer. The backbone of Zinedine Zidane’s current squad will be retained and it is much with the same men that the French manager will be leaving for the coming season. In the summer of 2021, however, big changes are expected with massive investments from Real Madrid. And this obviously concerns PSG, the top priority of “Zizou” and Florentino Pérez being none other than a certain Kylian Mbappé.
However, the financial crisis has left such a mark that it will be difficult for Real Madrid to put 250 or 300 ME on the table to sign the Habs striker. Thus, according to information obtained by Don Balon, an exchange should be offered to Leonardo next summer. And unsurprisingly, it’s Vinicius’s name that comes back to the table to be part of the deal. Greatly appreciated by Leonardo and by the upper echelons of Paris Saint-Germain, the Brazilian could be proposed to the reigning French champion in addition to 150 ME in order to convince Nasser Al-Khelaïfi to let go of Kylian Mbappé. A tempting offer on paper, but the chance of success depends on only one thing: the willingness or not of the former Monaco striker to extend with Paris. If Kylian Mbappé were to accept an offer of an extension beyond 2022, then it is clear that this transfer would have no chance to see the light of day. But Real Madrid are still hoping the Paris native won’t extend in favor of PSG, which would clearly work in favor of Florentino Pérez in the negotiations.
