Barcelona striker Luis Suárez Oi said Thursday that going to public matches would be strange, a week before the resumption of the Liga” activity, suspended three months ago due to the resulting crisis of the Coronavirus epidemic.
Suarez, 33, was out of action in January after undergoing a right knee operation but could return on June 13 when the leader and defending champion Barcelona travel to Mallorca in his first game since March.
The Uruguayan international said on the club’s website: “I feel very good, suitable for training with my teammates. It is always difficult to come back after an injury because you are a little scared, but I like to go back there.”
The League “La Liga” announced Sunday that the competitions of the league would resume on June 11 in the Andalusian derby between Seville and Real Betis behind closed doors, within the twenty-eighth stage, and that the season would end on the 19th July in the last thirty-eighth stage. The players will be subject to the security protocol for several months and the fans will not return to the stands until next year.
“We are not used to playing in such heat in the middle of the summer,” added Suarez. “We adapt to playing without an audience, which would be strange.”
“We will continue to focus on winning matches to win the championship title, which we always want (…) Over time, everything has returned to normal, despite the deaths of many people.”
Barcelona leads the championship standings with 58 points, two points behind their Real Madrid rival, 11 stages before the end of the season.
