Austrian tennis player Dominic Thiem will receive seven players in the Austrian city of Kitzbühel to participate in an informal session between the seventh and eleventh of next July, organizers announced Saturday.
Florian Zie bagel, the director of the tournament which will take place on clay courts worth 300,000 euros, has promised that he will stand “in front of a few fans and certainly within the framework of strict compliance with health directives imposed by the government. ”
Besides Tim, he will take part in the French course Gael Monfils. They have not released the names of the other six guests.
The father of the world star ranked third in the world, Wolfgang, who also participates in the organization, promised that the tournament would take place in a grouping system, “a system which guarantees each player to play at least three games”.
He added: “The goal is to give players matches in a difficult atmosphere to get in training.”
Tennis, like most sporting events in the world, has stalled since March due to the “Covid-19” epidemic. The suspension of professional yellow ball competitions is scheduled for the end of July.
Some players have tried to take advantage of this break by announcing their participation in informal tournaments, since Tim will take part in a tournament in Berlin from 13 July alongside the German Alexander Zverev and the Australian Nick Kairos, while the Serbian Novak Djokovic, ranked first in the world, will organize a tournament in Belgrade in mid-June.
