Chelsea extends Olivier Giroud’s contract
Chelsea announced today, Wednesday, the renewal of the contract for its French star, Olivier Giroud (33), until the end of next season.
Jiro’s contract with Chelsea was due to expire this season, so after the end of the current season, the player can sign for free for any other club.
“I am delighted to continue my journey and my adventure at Chelsea,” said Jiro, after renewing his contract with the “Blues”. I can’t wait for the matches to come back and to enjoy football with my team.
It should be noted that many reports have spoken of Gero’s approach over the past winter, Mercato for the passage to the Italians of “Lazio” or “Inter Milan”.
After Gero arrived at the “Blues” from rival “Arsenal” in January 2018, he struggled to find a place in the starting lineup for Chelsea, which led him to consider leaving the club. However, he managed to convince coach Frank Lampard to use his services, especially earlier this year before suspending Premier League competition since mid-March due to the epidemic of the new Coronavirus.
Giroud is considered the third top scorer in the history of the French national team organizing the 2018 World Cup.
Giroud has scored 39 goals in 97 games with the “Duke” team and was third on the list of top scorers for the French team over the ages led by Thierry Henry with 51 goals, followed by Michel Platini with 41 in the center.
