Xavi Hernandez, a former Lionel Messi fellow in Barcelona and the Qatari Al Sadd coach, has confirmed that the Argentine can continue playing until the age of 40.
The 32-year-old Messi is used to playing this season, scoring 24 goals in all competitions, knowing that he is absent for periods for an infection before the Corona epidemic stops everything.
Xavi noted that Messi has many years to present with the national team and the club.
In a direct interview on “Instagram” with former Cameroon star Samuel Ito, Xavi said: “He is still enjoying five or seven years of very high quality.”
He continued, “He takes care of himself and can continue playing until he is 37, 38, or 39 years old.”
The former superstar confirmed that Messi will play in the 2022 Qatar World Cup: “I’m sure.”
Xavi revealed that if Messi continues his career during these years, he hopes to take up his training.
They associated Xavi with Barcelona’s training to succeed Ernesto Valverde before Kiki Sitten took over, and the jumping coach stressed that the time was not right for the job.
“I had talks with Eric Abidal (Barcelona Sports Director) and Oscar Gray (Barcelona CEO) and it was a great show, but it was not the right time.”
He added: “I need more experience. Training in Barcelona is my dream. I would like to do it one day. I have said it several times.”
Neymar wanted to return to the Catalan team: “I am a Barcelona fan and want to see the best players out there.”
