The Burundi Football Association decided, Sunday, after a meeting with the clubs, that the local league competition will continue despite fears of the coronavirus.

Burundi has registered three cases of coronavirus. Besides Burundi, Belarus (Belarus), Nicaragua and Tajikistan continue to conduct their local competitions.
Only three rounds remain in the Burundi League, which first reached the African Cup of Nations last year. East African country is one of only four countries to continue to play leagues after sporting events have ceased worldwide because of the health crisis.
“After consultations with Thaddeus Ndikumana, Minister of Public Health, the General Assembly continued the first and second-tier league with measures to maintain hygiene,” the union said in a statement after a meeting to discuss whether the season would continue.
